March 2012 is NZ Book month
It is book month again and if you want to find out what is happening in Auckland look here. If you are a Tweeter you can use the hashtag #nzbookmonth.
One of the authors visiting New Zealand this month is Jo Nesbo, the Norwegian thriller writer. He is here to promote the release of Phantom, his new Harry Hole thriller, and the New Zealand release of the film adaptation of his exciting book Headhunters! Check out his books in the library.
For the whole of March anyone can use a $5 Book Month book voucher to discount their next book purchase. That’s ANY book you choose priced over $10 from participating bookstores. We did have a few sent to school which we displayed on the library counter, but if you missed them then you can download your voucher from here.
Also as part of New Zealand Book Month Marilyn Duckworth gave the 2012 Janet Frame Memorial Lecturer this weekend. Her talk, organized by The New Zealand Society of Authors (and recorded at Te Papa Tongarewa ) was entitled Learning to Swivel: The Changing Face of New Zealand Literature. Marilyn Duckworth is Fleur Beale’s sister and she was born in Auckland. However, she spent her childhood in England and has lived mainly in Wellington. If you missed hearing her talk you can download it here.
